    Diagnosed with dyslexia, James has transformed this personal challenge into a cornerstone of his professional and personal philosophy. He champions lateral and big-picture thinking, skills he attributes to his dyslexia, which have become invaluable to his role at Dyslexia Matters. His journey from a child who benefited from specialist teaching to a leader in educational support underscores his deep commitment to the charity’s mission.

    As COO, James aligns daily operations with strategic goals, optimises processes for productivity, and collaborates closely with the CEO to ensure the charity’s visions are actionable and sustainable.

    He is dedicated to leveraging diverse talents and fostering an environment where unique perspectives are valued, directly impacting the operational success and culture of the charity.

    James has a passion for training, extending beyond his professional life to his personal life with his Labrador, Peggy. His experience with Peggy reinforces his belief in kind, consistent, and patient teaching methods, mirroring his approach to developing people at Dyslexia Matters

    Growing up with a brother who faced severe learning difficulties, Liz pursued qualifications to address these challenges, earning Qualified Teacher Status and in addition specialising in dyslexia and specific learning differences, achieving a Level 7 Qualification in Dyslexia.

    Liz oversees the development of all Dyslexia Matters educational programmes, delivers impactful training sessions, and leads a team of experts to ensure inclusivity and effectiveness in training approaches.

    Her leadership in educational programme development and staff training underpins the charity’s commitment to excellence.

    Liz’s creativity and attention to detail are reflected in her glorious garden, where she spends many happy hours with her grandchildren.

    As Julia has dyslexia herself, and is the mother of children with dyslexia, she has hands-on experience of the challenges that people with dyslexia face. She holds Qualified Teacher Status and a Level 7 Qualification in Dyslexia. Her roles have included SENDCo, Head of a mainstream school, and founding Head of a school for children with dyslexia, giving her a broad perspective on educational needs and strategies.

    As CEO, Julia strategically directs the organisation, developing long-term strategies that ensure sustainability and position the charity at the forefront of educational innovation for dyslexia.

    A primary ambassador for the charity, Julia uses her unique insights to engage with stakeholders, from donors to beneficiaries, enhancing the public image and forming critical partnerships.

    She manages the charity’s finances with meticulous attention,collaborating closely with the COO, ensuring resources are allocated effectively and diversifying income streams to secure the future.

    Driven by a passion to make a difference, Julia’s personal challenges with dyslexia inspire her leadership, demonstrating what can be achieved despite learning differences.

    Julia works as a Pets As Therapy volunteer with her Australian Labradoodle, Ginny,  and enjoys crafting and writing books for her grandchildren.

    We are hosting a taster session and we believe it would be a fantastic opportunity for you to get acquainted with our team and gain further insights into the course. Additionally, this will be a great chance to connect with other like-minded individuals who are also passionate about becoming Specialist Teachers.

    During the session, we will provide an overview of our approach to supporting and training candidates at Dyslexia Matters. You will have the opportunity to experience some of the course activities first-hand, whilst getting to know members of our team. Towards the end of the session, we will reserve time for a Question and Answer segment to address any queries you may have.
