Our strength is that we cater for each person’s needs individually, in an empathetic and multi-sensory way.

This course provides both theoretical and practical approaches to become a specialist teacher, developing the knowledge and understanding of the Special Educational Needs sector and the ability to deliver effective teaching sessions to learners with dyslexia/specific learning difficulties.  It is not an essay driven course and there is no written exam. It is a nationally  and professionally recognised  and accredited Ofqual qualification that was co-authored by the Directors of Dyslexia Matters’ Directors themselves.

Teachers, HLTAs, Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists and those with a level 3 qualification or higher looking for a new career.

A primary concern of Dyslexia Matters and indeed the British Dyslexia Association is that the professional help available to people with dyslexia of all ages and abilities should be of a consistently high quality. Your qualification will enable you to conduct informal, curriculum-based assessments and deliver specialist-teaching programmes to learners of all ages.

On completion of this course, those applicants who hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) status will be eligible for British Dyslexia Association Approved Teacher Status (ATS); others would be eligible for Approved Practitioner Status (APS). Having ATS or APS gives candidates further recognition as a Specialist Teacher of learners with Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLDs) / Dyslexia.

In order to help you to achieve your professional goals, and to maintain our high standards, Dyslexia Matters offers flexible training options to suit individual candidates’ personal circumstances and ways of learning.

Dyslexia Matters has excellent and long-standing reputation and excellent credentials in the field of dyslexia. Educational settings approach Dyslexia Matters when they have vacancies as they hold Dyslexia Matters training in high esteem, as they have over 20 years of practical hands on knowledge and the Directors were founders of a specialist school for learners with dyslexia and associated difficulties. The Directors continue to be passionate about training Specialist Teachers and empowering each individual to make a real difference to learners they support.
